Majolica Artichoke Box

This exquisitely detailed hand painted artichoke is a reproduction from 18th Century English porcelain orginal.  Begun by Meissen in the first half of the century, the craze for naturalistically modeled vegetable-form porcelains had spread all over Europe by the mid seventeen hundreds.  This beautiful porcelain box can be used for many things including candy, nuts, jewelry or a fabulous dinner presentation for sorbet.  Hand painted and made in Italy.  4.5" tall.
